MDC Explorers Program

  • Baby and You

We will play and move together using developmental movement patterns and sensory experiences. Throughout the class, we will sing, spin, jump, skip, laugh, and dance together. While the focus of the class is movement, there will always be an opportunity for parents to discuss and share parenting strategies with each other.

    Infant Massage

Parents come learn to massage their babies in a welcoming and supportive class! Massage is best for newborn babies up to crawling, however, all babies up to one year old are welcome. Parents participating will receive complimentary handouts of strokes learned, a free little bottle of massage oil. Ms. Carolyn is certified through the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM).

    Bustin’ Loose With Mother Goose

The Parent-Child Mother Goose Program® is a group experience for parents and their babies and young children which focuses on the pleasure and power of using rhymes, songs, music, movement and stories together. Parents gain skills and confidence in these areas with their child.

    Bonding with Baby!

During this class we will sing and move with our little ones. We will be using some special

movements to help with Brain development, teaching some neat infant massage techniques and

doing some singing to enhance our special bond with babies while stimulating their

    language/communication skills.

  • Zumbini

The benefits of the Zumbini™ class are innumerable! The first benefit is the bonding, the time shared between caregiver and child. Other benefits include social, emotional, cognitive, motor, and language development. Music stimulates learning naturally. Music and movement tap into all three types of learners: visual, kinesthetic, and auditory. No matter which type of learner your child is, they can benefit from this music and movement program. Children learn through play, and the Zumbini™ format is based on just that: "Playing" with music!

    Wiggle & Giggle

Wiggle & Giggle will encourage parents and kids to be active together, try new things, move and have fun. Being active together supports healthy, happy and secure parent-child relationships. “Music and movements help the body and the mind work together. Exposing children to music during early development helps them learn the sounds and meanings of words Dancing to music helps children build motor skills while allowing them to practice self-expression” We will be using music and movement activities in a fun and age appropriate way to get our wiggles and giggles out.

    Move & Groove

Designed by an Early childhood Educator.

Move and Groove is an active program that is designed to use musical activities and movements to aid in gross motor, attachment and literacy in children foster this with parents.

We will use instruments, parachutes, ribbons, movements, and our voices.

    And more!

MDC Competitors Program

In our competitive program, dancers will build their own training program. In order to compete, dancers are required to take one of the core technique classes and a conditioning class for a 36-week season. Each season, we will perform in three competitions and our year-end recital. This program is designed for ages 8-18 and is split into levels determined by ages, skill level, and hours of dancing per week. For dancers ages 5 and up interested in competing, please view our pre-competitive option below.

  • August 18th, 2023

Time Slot 1: 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm (for dancers that were in Pre-competitive, Level 1 last season, Fast Track this summer or have less than 5 years competitive experience.)

Time Slot 2: 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm (for dancers that were in Level 2 and 3 last season or have had more than 5 years of competitive experience.)

Please register for your time slot in your Parent Portal. Choose the 2023/24 Season tab, where you will get a peak of the drafted fall schedule, and search for Competitive Assessment. If you're unsure about which time slot you should attend, please reach out via email - info@maddoxdance.com . If your dancer is unable to attend the assessment, please let us know so that we can make alternate plans for ensuring they are placed in the correct level.

    Class details

There is no need for your dancer to prepare anything for their assessment. During their time slot we will lead a class that consists of Ballet, Contemp, Jazz and Tap within the hour. Please bring appropriate footwear, classwear (Bodysuit and tights or shorts above the knee and black t-shirt) and water. If you are not registering for tap, you will be excused during this portion of assessments.

    How leveling works:

We are anticipating having 4 competitive levels this coming up season which is very exciting. Some of the classes in the fall schedule you will notice have combined levels. We did this in order to have a larger group in those styles of dance. A dancer's level will be determined using the following criteria:

Age: age will be considered during placement in order to follow competition guidelines.

Skill requirements: an ever-changing list of skills that must be correctly and consistently executed before advancement to the next level.

Behavior: a dancer's attitude, willingness to learn, attendance, and accountability will be considered when being assessed.
